ASCENSION/DESCENSION GRAPHS – A Neon Sculpture series by Anne Katrine Senstad
The Ascension / Descension Graph neon sculpture series (2020 – ongoing), examines the notion of the memorial in context of human life revalued in the corporate and financial language, the public framework that defines economics, growth potential and schedule, translating those ideas to a human scale as a way to look at the human value system of the world of corporations, politics, and power: the system of human value is organized by number of lives, production efficiency and length, a citizens value to the societal economy, taxable ability, consumer potential and other systems of data measurement. The Ascension / Descension Graph series signifies on the other hand, its position as a memorial, a psychological symbol of faith and the pantheon of eternity, life, death and spirituality through its ascension to the higher realms, or a symbol of the descension to nothingness and loss.
