The exhibition brings together neon sculpture and text based works in a new iteration of the artists ongoing project Capitalism in the Public Realm established in 2014 that examines contemporaneous conditions through the optics of perception, spatiality, value systems, and language - THE CHIASM
The Chiasm, is a Cobalt blue neon light and mirror sculpture installation with the semblance of a deconstructed manifestation of Constructivist Taitlin’s Tower. Senstad utilizes utilitarian, readymade materials, construction scaffolding aesthetics, and copper plumbing parts, reflecting the sacred in the ordinary. Neon is at the core of Norwegian artist Anne Katrine Senstad’s wide ranging work across light and space, sound and synesthesia, aesthetics, form, and perception. Through advanced in-depth research, she has examined spatial, topological, and scientific phenomena of light, sound, and color since the 1990s, a foundation for her explorations in the experiential, the participatory, and the experimental. In the monumental neon sculpture series Elements I-VI (2018-2021) with sound environments composed by JG Thirlwell (Elements IV, V,VI) and Catherine Christer Hennix (Elements III), the artist has transformed space and challenged our awareness of spatial limits, our presence within the infinitesimal and empyrean experience. - RADICAL LIGHT – ELEMENTS IV & VI

About
Anne Katrine Senstad is a visual artist, researcher, curator and producer whose multi-disciplinary practice has since the 1990’s examined the scientific, perceptual and aesthetic properties of light, sound, color, space. She works across installation art, photography, film and video, neon sculpture and light based spatial installations, text based art, land art, and site specificity. Her conceptual work is concerned with semiotic narration, sensorial aesthetics, ethics, and criticism, – the transformative and the transcendental ideas of art and philosophical practices. Senstad’s long term research and critical projects, are concerned with the humanities, social-political spaces, and culture. She has exhibited widely internationally in museums, institutions, galleries, and festivals. Her work is represented in museum, corporate and private collections.
